Dr. Cigdem Borke TUNALI is an associate professor in Economics at the Istanbul University. Dr. Tunali obtained her first PhD in Economics at the Istanbul University and she attained her second PhD at the Université de Strasbourg. Since November 2016, Dr. Tunali has been the vice quality coordinator of the Istanbul University. Dr. Tunali was a visiting researcher at the Economics and Finance Department of College of Business Arts and Social Sciences, Brunel University between 01 October 2013 and 31 July 2014 and worked on the state aid policy of the European Union together with Dr. Jan Fidrmuc. Dr. Tunali was also a visiting fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), Research on South Eastern Europe Unit (LSEE) between 02 February 2015 and 01 May 2015. During her visit, she worked with Dr. Vassilis Monastiriotis on the sustainability of external imbalances in the European Periphery. Her main research interests are macroeconomics, growth and development economics and international economics. Dr. Tunali also works on quality issues in higher education systems, accreditation of higher education instutions and university rankings.
